The King is Coming

“And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” Luke 21:27

What effect do worsening world conditions have upon you? Do you feel like withdrawing and lamenting the evil in the world or do you want to roll up your sleeves and get in the middle of things? The disciples of Jesus were anxious about the troubling conditions in their time. Is this really the end (the theme of Luke 21:5-38)? They wondered. The temple in Jerusalem was being refurbished in an effort that took from 20 B.C. to around 64 A.D. It was magnificent looking. Yet its appearance was misleading. It was around 30 A.D. when they questioned Jesus about end-times expectations. Jesus used the soon-to-be destroyed Jerusalem temple in 70 A.D., and the Tribulation and the Second Coming, to teach vital truths about being prepared for Christ’s return. In the first place, beware of false hopes. There will be those who attempt to deceive the world and Christians. False christs will abound. Warning: There is a danger of reading into the news headlines fulfillment of Bible prophecy. The prediction of catastrophic climate change is deceiving many to become fearful, panic, and vote for politicians who follow the delusion that we can help save the planet. The secular world has its false version of how the end will come. Christian, don’t be led astray. The King, the Lord Jesus is coming. Keep that ever before you in your mind’s eye. These are dark times, but keep your eyes on the Lord.
