The Lordship of Jesus Christ – Part 1

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.” Philippians 2:6

In Luxor Egypt there was a house on top of a large column, 80ft high. Excavation had revealed the amount of sand that had obscured what the builder of the house did not know. Many people claim that their lives are built on Jesus Christ, but then know as little about Jesus Christ as that farmer knew about the foundation of his house. The apostle Paul tells us of the supreme example of selfless humility (Phil. 2:5-11). In doing so we have a stupendous revelation about the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ willingly submitted to the relinquishment of His rights to life in heaven. This involved a change in His glory. He was in the world that He had created, but the world did not know Him (Jn. 1:10). Jesus Christ had always been and continues to be God by nature. Our Savior existed eternally as the second person of the Godhead, and as such was equal with God the Father. The incarnation of Christ also involved a change in His dwelling place. He came down out of heaven for us. Think of moving from a multimillion dollar mansion and estate where everything belongs to you, and voluntarily moving to live over a grate on a busy street. Oh the wonder of it all. Think of what the Savior has done for us.
