Too many people think that the gospel of Jesus Christ is simply fire insurance. To be unified with Christ through the new birth is what it means to know God. The entirety of the Christian life is to be the pursuit of God being fueled by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. This power enables believers to live a new life (Rom. 6:4) made possible to overcome indwelling sin through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He does this by biblical truth, prayer, fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ, worship, divinely ordered pain and suffering. The power that raised Jesus from the dead works within the believer by thinking, listening, questioning oneself, examining oneself, admonishing oneself, sharing what is in one’s heart with others. Such resurrection power transforms a short-tempered man into a patient and kind husband and father. It replaces insecurity and a critical spirit with the inner beauty of peace and joyfulness in a wife and mother. How are you experiencing the resurrection power of Christ?
