Satan has many devices in his bag of tricks. One of his favorites is the temptation to think that little sins are not as bad as big sins. What could be wrong with satisfying the Savior’s hunger with an easy little miracle of turning stones into satisfying bread? We see this kind of thinking when Lot wanted a “little Sodom” for it was convenient (Gen. 19:20). What could be wrong with spending some down-time roaming carelessly through dangerous apps on your smartphone? What’s the harm in a teenage girl comparing herself with her peers on Instagram? “If I can enhance my appearance by using a few filters and editing apps to improve my looks?” Biblical advice: So-called little sins have done the greatest damage? After all, it was only a little bite for Eve. So-called little sins give birth to greater sins. David’s wandering eye changed his future (2 Sam. 11:2). So-called little sins must be seen as displeasing our greatest Friend by yielding to His greatest enemy. Think these things through and talk with God. The best defense is the offense of drawing near to God in thought and deed. H

One more thing: When so-called little sins get their foot in the door, the whole body will follow. Credit goes to Thomas Brooks
