“…because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel.” Colossians 1:5

I thank God for a dear friend, though now crossing over the golden bridge into the presence of Jesus Christ, who has lived with rock solid hope for the over fifty nine years I have known him. The apostle Paul was filled with thanksgiving to God for the believers in Colosse, a city in ancient Turkey. Why? Because their hope for the future rested upon the reality of being with Christ when death comes knocking or at His coming again, whichever occurred first. That moment when the heart stops beating and the brain shuts down, a spectacular miracle takes place when the Christian sees Christ. This world is not the end. There is a time of coming reward. Hope is the memory of the future. My brother-in-law who has been a brother in Christ is about to lay hold of the hope for which he has been living. One effect of this hope has been his witness to others. He has been a gospel man through and through. Is our hope that is set upon Christ shaping the way we live out our lives from day to day? Is there someone you need to tell about your hope in Christ?
