Wisdom tells us that our words are weighed by God. Proverbs was written to instruct the nation of Israel in how the fear of the Lord should affect daily life. Wisdom is skillful living. The fool is the one who is not dancing to God’s tune. A big slice of smart living is knowing that our words can have great value. Encouraging words are worth their weight in gold. Find ways to make our mouths a source of nourishment to others. Televisions in waiting rooms have done great damage to social connections. Masks in many instances have also sealed us off from one another. We can overcome these things for the glory of God. There are ways to develop a valuable tongue. (1) Set your mind on those things that are valued by God. (2) Ask God for the grace of kind words. (3) Don’t let negative and critical remarks take over your sentences. (4) Learn how to ask people questions and ask God to help you be a good listener. (5) Rehearse the gospel to yourself so that it can roll of your tongue in a natural way. (6) At the beginning of the day ask God to give you the opportunity to have meaningful conversations. H
“Lord, make my mouth an instrument for passing on truth.”
