Where Did He Go?

“In which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison…” 1 Peter. 3:19

April 28, 2025

The question is frequently raised as to where did Jesus’ spirit go after His death on the cross until His bodily resurrection early on Sunday morning. The apostle Peter encourages suffering believers with the truth of the victory of Jesus over sin, death, hell, demons, and Satan (Col. 2:15; Heb. 2:14; 1 Jn. 3:8). This proclamation was made to the spirits, demons, who were once disobedient in their infiltration of the human race during the time prior to Noah’s Flood (Gen. 6:1-4). As one theologian has said, “They defied God by leaving their spirit world to enter the human realm (as Satan had entered the animal world in Eden)”. The moral and spiritual corruption was so bad that the entire human civilization had to be destroyed, except for Noah and his family, (Gen 6:11-13). To make matters even worse in the pre-flood world, the “Nephilim” had great power and influence. International gangsters roamed the earth, “attaining power, reputation, and inducing fear in ancient times by being fierce and deadly (Gen. 7:23-24).” Further thoughts on this will be given in the next Morning Minute.
