“And Elijah came near to all the people and said, ‘How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.’ And the people did not answer him a word.” 1 Kings 18:21

The Israel of Elijah’s day were trying to worship God and Baal, a false god, at the same time. The word for this is “syncretism;”attempting to please the Canaanite culture surrounding them and following the practices of Judaism at the same time. We live in a secular age which is committed to erasing God from everything. There is no room for indecisiveness among Christians. Incomplete obedience is disobedience. God hates it. The god of chance through time (evolution), believing that Allah and the God of the Bible are the same, mixing the belief that the observance of the Mass is the same as a communion service, that works and grace save the sinner. It was the Canaanization of Israel that lead to her down fall. Those who count themselves as obedient followers of Jesus Christ are not to try to straddle the fence between love for God and compromising the truth of God’s Word. Will it be God or Baal?
