Influencers. It’s not a new concept in the world. There have been people who have had an extraordinary impact on the lives of others. But the “influencer” has become a professional category. They are defined as those “who have built an audience – usually on social media – and can affect the opinions, interests, or purchasing decisions of their followers through the content they create” (ChatGPT). Those who are disciples of Jesus Christ are potentially the greatest of influencers. Salt and light. As Christians we have been saved to illuminate a sin-darkened world by bearing the gospel to every tribe, tongue, and nation. This happens with our lips and lives. Light exposes darkness, bringing to light dishonesty, gossip, immorality, prejudice, greed, and selfishness. As salt-influencers we, too, have a preservative impact in classrooms, the work place, sales meetings, the cockpit, in politics, in sports participation, in town hall meetings, charities, jury duty. How are you doing as an influencer for the King of kings? We are talking about eternal outcomes, not merely the market place of this life.
