Under God’s Wings

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty…You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day.” Psalm 91:1,5

On this day in 2001 two planes were hijacked and hurled into the twin trade towers in New York City. Thousands were mercilessly killed. The horror of it all overwhelms the senses. Yet we have Psalm 91 which, in one of the moods of faith, calls God’s people to trust Him. We live in an evil world which is inhabited by a host of evils. Planes may crash, buildings may crumble, and the horrors of imminent death hurl us into eternity. How then do we reconcile being under God’s wings and yet our worse fears are realized? How must we think this through. Fear of what is happening in our nation. We are faced with a moral revelation. Terrorism, crime, drugs, gender fluidity, language, slander beset us. But God is in charge, The way out is through God’s way. We need respites (wisdom driven breaks). We need tough minds. We need tender hearts. And know this. No final evil will befall us.

Reflection:
Am I spending too much time listening to truthless thinking? The social media is full of it.
Read Psalm 91 prayerfully.
