How did the world, as we know, get into the moral abyss in which it lives? God tells the story like it is. We are now told how mankind turned from the light of God. When God’s revelation of Himself in the created order is rejected, what is the price to be paid? The moral truth about human history has been turned upside down. We are not evolving. We are devolving or we might say degenerating. Here is the contrast: The world’s (human thinking without God) view of history is progression, advance, upward, evolution. The Christian worldview sees human history as regression, retreat, downward, and devolution. The sad story is one of a dark exchange. This is vividly described in Romans 1:21-32. There are six stages. Stage one is recognition of God’s existence, “they knew God.” Rebellious man knows God is there. But he has rejected Him. Before we go further, hold on to this. Moral reversal begins with personal repentance and faith in Christ which brings regeneration. A new heart is given in the new birth. We are not to despair but declare the gospel with our lips and life. Are you there?
