The Satisfaction of Sin

“You were wearied with the length of your way, but you did not say, ‘It is hopeless’; you found new life for your strength, and so you were not faint.” Isaiah 57:10

Is America in trouble? Is our nation committed to a societal suicide pact? It seems to be evident that there is a significant societal movement away from a sense of accountability to God. There is a certain satisfaction with idolatry. This was true of ancient Israel. She gave all her energies in the pursuit of false gods. Idolatry proved to be vital and refreshing to the Israelites. Commitment to sin and theological error can be deceptively satisfying. One of current popular idols is the allurement of financial gain through the exhilaration of taking a chance on certain outcomes in sports and politics. The freedom and fun can offer addictive satisfaction. The truth is, real satisfaction comes only from God by doing things His way. Israel flirted with heathen nations and their make-believe gods. This led to her destruction. Nothing seemed to weary her in her desire for the “fun” of false gods.
