Would you like to be in God’s honors class? The wise use their tongue constructively (“the tongue of the wise brings healing” Prov. 12:18). If there are parents reading this (or grandparents), teach the young that too much talk can lead to sin. Be sensible. Know when to keep your mouth shut. Beware of the dangers of the world of Facebook, Instagram, smart phones. The wise protect themselves because of a wise tongue (“the lips of the wise will preserve them” Prov. 14:3). Learn how to filter your thoughts. How often is the first thing out of our mouths the wrong thing? Our lips are at their best when they spread God’s thoughts (“The lips of the wise speak knowledge, not so the hearts of fools” Prov. 15:7). “Lord, use my lips to speak the truth of the gospel, to encourage and comfort others.”

How well do I handle impulsive thoughts?
How often do I use humor at the expense of someone else?
