Godly wisdom is skillful living. Wisdom is like the keys on a piano. They are to be played in harmony with one another. Wise choices create a God-pleasing melody in my life. The wise are discerning (“the wise heart is called discerning” Prov. 16:21). To know the difference between antifreeze and power-aid is discernment. God-given insight enables the wise to plan. Money is to be seen through the eyes of saving, investing, restraint. Controlling one’s temper is housed in the heart of the wise. Do you have a short fuse? Knowing how to handle an angry person is a gift worth its weight in gold (“Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath” Prov. 29:8). Do you have any memories of a confrontation during which you stayed calm? Especially important is that the wise are not led astray by alcohol or drugs (Prov. 20:1, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler.”). Are there physical cravings which are being allowed to damage my health?
