“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow; for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:33-34

Worry is inconsistent with God’s transforming redemptive work in our lives as believers. Its doubts distract from God’s goals who has promised to meet “all the needs of those who risk all for Him.” (Reformation Study Bible)
Worry not only needs a good dose of the right priorities, it also needs a good dose of simplicity. Stop living more than one day at a time. Each day requires us to concentrate on meeting the temptations, trials, opportunities, and struggles we have today. Is a potential worry cloud on your horizon? Which promise of Jesus speaks most to you? How about “and all these things will be added to you.” Do what you need to do today and leave tomorrow in God’s hands. He already knows what’s there.

Reflection:
What constructive thing can you do for someone today?
What is troubling you now? What can you do about it?
Thought:
Anxiety can never be cured by getting more of what we have already.
