Christ’s Love For Us

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?” Romans 8:35

Are you experiencing some test in your faith now? Is something happening which is unpleasant and seemingly contradictory to God’s wisdom, goodness and love?
We must never forget that present sufferings can’t cut us off from God. As believers we have been declared innocent of all charges against us. But Christ not only defends us (Rom. 8:34); He loves us and enters into relationship with us, and nothing will ever separate us from Christ’s love. The love of Christ for us is not threatened by any of the miseries of life. In the list of seven take note of the second, distress/hardship. The word implies being confined within a narrow and oppressive space. It may be a dead-end job, a chronic life-limiting physical problem, struggles within our family circle. Does the frown of God’s providence signal the withdrawal of His love? Absolutely not! Being unable to square the circles of disappointments is the opportunity to be reassured of Christ’s steadfast love for us.
